Developer 91Act has officially launched BlazBlue Entropy Effect on mobile platforms worldwide. The side-scrolling action roguelike, which first found success on PC via Steam, is now available for download on Google Play and the App Store. The game supports nine languages and comes in as a free-to-play title with three characters unlocked from the start. In case you missed it, check out our review.
Previously limited to Chinese mobile storefronts, where it racked up over six million downloads, the mobile version now expands to a broader audience. Players can jump in as Es, Mai, or Hibiki at no cost, with additional characters available via in-app purchases through the “Analyzer” system. Each BlazBlue character costs one or two Analyzers to unlock, and notably, there are no gacha mechanics or ads. Characters are earned through direct progression and currency redemption.
Full Mobile Feature Set
The global mobile version isn’t watered down. It supports all 14 currently available characters and includes co-op play (both online and LAN), full controller compatibility, and customizable touch controls. It’s also been optimized for tablets and foldable devices. The game supports English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Japanese, French, German, Spanish (Spain), Portuguese (Brazil), and Russian.
A crossover character, ICEY, can be unlocked after meeting a certain character threshold, offering an extra reward for dedicated players.
Dead Cells Crossover Coming in September
A new crossover is on the horizon as The Prisoner, from Dead Cells, is set to join the Entropy Effect roster on September 1, 2025. This collaboration was originally teased during the triple-i showcase earlier this year and was recently confirmed in a new trailer. More details about the character and gameplay integration are expected soon.
A Look Back at PC Success
BlazBlue Entropy Effect first launched in Early Access on PC via Steam in August 2023 before reaching version 1.0 in January 2024. Since then, the title has sold over six million copies and received multiple updates, including new characters like Rachel, Hazama, and most recently, Bullet. The game currently holds a 94% “Very Positive” rating based on over 25,000 Steam reviews.
91Act has hinted at more updates coming later in 2025 for both mobile and PC versions. While specifics haven’t been shared, players can expect continued character additions and potential crossovers.
BlazBlue Entropy Effect is available now on PC via Steam and mobile via Google Play and the App Store. During the Steam Summer Sale, the base game is discounted by 30%, and the Bullet DLC is 25% off.
