OPPO has confirmed the extension of its strategic partnership with camera manufacturer Hasselblad. The announcement, made at an event in Gothenburg, Sweden, follows a four-year collaboration focused on OPPO’s flagship Find Series.
The two companies are currently co-developing their next-generation mobile imaging system, with the stated aim of establishing new benchmarks for mobile imaging quality.
Four Years of Collaborative Development
The partnership between OPPO and Hasselblad is characterized by extensive technical co-development. Over the past four years, their respective R&D teams have worked together on each new Find series smartphone. This collaboration has resulted in a range of imaging tools designed to integrate the Hasselblad experience into mobile devices.
Notable innovations from this partnership include the re-engineered Hasselblad Natural Color Solution for mobile, a Hasselblad Portrait Mode that emulates the bokeh effect of classic Hasselblad lenses, and a professional Master Mode tailored to match the color characteristics of the Hasselblad X2D. The collaboration also introduced creative features such as the Hasselblad XPAN Mode, which reproduces the 65:24 wide aspect ratio of the original camera.
OPPO’s Trajectory in Mobile Imaging
During the event, OPPO reviewed its 17-year history of innovation in mobile imaging. Key milestones highlighted include the introduction of the first stacked CMOS sensor in the OPPO Find 5 in 2012, the implementation of pixel binning with the OPPO R9 in 2016, and the debut of the first periscope telephoto camera in 2017. Beginning with the Find X6 Pro, OPPO has focused on improving imaging quality across hardware, software, and aesthetics with each new generation of its Find X camera flagships.
This approach is exemplified in the latest flagship, the Find X8 Ultra. The device features an advanced Penta Camera System with a True Chroma Camera and an AI Bokeh Engine for precise subject cutouts and natural-looking portraits.
Additionally, the new Master Mode offers ultra-clear 50MP JPEG Max and 16-bit 50MP RAW Max formats, designed to maximize image quality. These features underscore OPPO’s stated commitment to advancing mobile photography.
We can expect more details about the imaging technology when the Find X9 series arrives later this year.
